Monday's weather: Fine and cool to warm start for the week

Monday will be a fine and cool to warm day in most of the country, with isolated thundershowers expected in other parts, according to the South African Weather Service.

Gauteng will experience partly cloudy and cool conditions.

The expected UVB sunburn index is high.

In Mpumalanga, it will be fine and cool, but partly cloudy on the Lowveld and escarpment with early morning fog patches.

Limpopo will be partly cloudy and warm, becoming fine over the central parts by the afternoon.

It will be partly cloudy in the west of the North West, otherwise fine and cool to warm. 

Fine conditions are expected in the east of the Free State at first, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers, except in the north-east.

The Northern Cape will be fine to partly cloudy and cool to warm, but hot in the north with evening fog along the coast.

The wind along the coast will be moderate northerly to north-westerly.

It will be cloudy and cool with fog along the coast of the Western Cape in the morning otherwise fine and warm to hot but partly cloudy along the south coast from the afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be light to moderate northerly to north-westerly along the West Coast, but fresh to strong along the south-west coast until the afternoon, otherwise light and variable.

The expected UVB sunburn index is moderate.

The western half of the Eastern Cape will be partly cloudy with isolated thundershowers west of Gqeberha in the morning, otherwise fine and cool to warm. It will become cloudy along the coast in the late afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be moderate westerly to south-westerly.

On the eastern half, it will be partly cloudy and warm with isolated thundershowers.

The wind along the coast will be moderate north-easterly becoming south-westerly in the afternoon.

KwaZulu-Natal can expect morning fog patches in places over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm. Isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers are expected in the south-west. 

The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming strong in places at times.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.
