Magesi FC 0-2 Maritzburg United

Magesi FC were denied the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship after a 2-0 loss to Maritzburg United on Saturday.

After victory in last week’s top of the table clash, the host also missed the opportunity to close-in to the automatic promotion leaving Lindokuhle Sithole and Joslin Kamatuka to strike either side of the half and claimed victory.

It’s a morale boosting maximum points for the Team of Choice, who surged four places from eight to fourth-place on the table and revived their top-three aspirations.asric Stars 0-1 JDR Stars

JDR Stars regained third spot in the Motsepe Foundation Championship to keep their play-off aspirations through a 1-0 victory over Casric Stars on Sunday afternoon.

The Hammerboys have been on a heavy revival of late following a period of inconsistency and are on a sixth-match unbeaten run, as the winner came during the first stanza.

Marumo Gallants FC 3-0 Platinum City Rovers

Marumo Gallants continued to strengthen their battle against the drop after thumping Platinum City Rovers 3-0 in a bottom-three encounter.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa had the lead in the opening 20 minutes through a decent finish from Thapelo Dhludhlu after the visitors were caught napping at the back.

The host extended the tally following the break through Ndivhuwo Ravhulani and added a third later on as Dhludhlu completed his brace to leave the struggling visitors bottom of the table.

Venda Football Academy 0-0 University of Pretoria

University of Pretoria once more were unable to keep pace with Magesi and close the gap at the summit following a disappointing goalless draw with Venda Football Academy.

AmaTuks are now three matches on the bounce in all competitions without a win and sit five points off the table-topping Magesi who dropped points to Maritzburg United in the day’s other action.

The promotion-chasers were on course to victory and had the ball in the net late on through Thabang Sibanyoni, but unfortunately the flag was raised for offside.

Hungry Lions 1-2 Baroka FC

Baroka FC scrapped a run of three matches without victory to overcome Hungry Lions 2-1 and revived their hopes of securing a play-off spot.

The match were evenly balanced from the onset and saw the two enter the interval on an equal standing, which left matters poised and up for grabs.

Dan Malesela’s charges attained full control of matters after the break and went on to find the winner to leave with the maximum points.

Milford Stallions FC 0-0 NB La Masia

NB La Masia winless streak continued after a stuttering goalless stalemate with the resurgent Milford Stallions out in the KwaZulu-Natal province.

The point leaves the two sides in the bottom-half, with the host unable to build on last weekend’s victory against Platinum City Rovers.

Pretoria Callies 1-1 Upington City

Upington City failed to move closer to the top-three in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after settling for a 1-1 draw with Pretoria Callies on Friday.

Bafana Ba Gucci were on a two-match unbeaten run and overcame Black Leopards to sit tight in the top-half and needed victory over the Romans to close-in to the top-three.

Although, after falling behind early on through Nicholas Motloung – a first half stoppage time effort from Dellmico Malgas were needed to rescue a point in the end.

Black Leopards 3-0 Orbit College

Black Leopards arrested a six-match winless streak to remain in the mid-table and hammered an off-form Orbit College 3-0 in Thohoyandou.

It’s yet another disappointing result for Orbit, who are now on a five-match winless run and a further six points outside the top-three bracket.

Lidoda Duvha were dominant from the onset and actually went to the break in the lead before completing matters after the interval to send the visitors packing.
