Middlesex and Leicestershire must wait until Saturday to get their County Championship Division Two match under way after persistent rain ruled out any play on the opening day at Lord's.

Heavy showers throughout the morning ensured that the pitch remained covered and although the rain eased after lunch, umpires Paul Baldwin and Rob White ruled that the surface remained unfit for play following a 16:00 BST inspection.

Both teams are undefeated after their first four fixtures of the season.

Leicestershire go into the game as the division's early leaders, with Middlesex three points behind them in third place.
