A View From Above
Contemplations on Life, Equality, and Standards
One breezy evening, I had a chance to be momentarily free from the clutches of my daily tasks. What an aha moment!
I took this opportunity to look out of my window, allowing my eyes to soak in the view — The view which isn’t filtered by any lens of my mind. What unfolded before me are the lines that follow — The lines which came from my heart.
“I look up at the window
At those highly built towers afar
I viewed all of them until I couldn’t see any
And focused on tiny houses nearby
Until I couldn’t see myself
Wondering how the vast sky
Cascades it’s presence so impartially”
— Moonpie
While writing this poem, I aimed to capture the impartiality of nature and its contrast with the human-made distinctions of stature and wealth. The sky, in its vastness, does not differentiate between the towering skyscrapers and the tiny houses. It just simply exists, sprawling above all, treating each entity under it with equal regard.
This perspective from above, then, serves as a touching reminder of equality and the standards we often impose upon ourselves and others. It asks us to ponder - Are these divisions really necessary, or can we learn to coexist as harmoniously as the sky does with the world beneath it?
With love,
Moonpie ♡
