FRIDAY MAY 3RD IN AFRICAN HISTORY 🌍✍️

On May 3rd in African history, several significant events took place. Here are a few examples:

  1. 1901: Charles Drew, a Canadian-born African-American physician and surgeon, was born in Washington, D.C. Drew made significant contributions to the field of blood transfusion and establishing blood banks, ultimately saving countless lives.

2. 1802: The Battle of Maseru took place in present-day Lesotho between the Basotho people and the defending Ndebele warriors. The Basotho, led by Chief Mohlomi, successfully defended their land.

3. 1962: Ahmed Ben Bella, the first president of Algeria, was released from house arrest after being overthrown in a coup in 1965 and detained for nearly 14 years.

4. 1971: The Inter-Congolese Dialogue began in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in an effort to find a peaceful resolution to the civil war that had plagued the country since 1998.

These are just a few notable events that occurred on May 3rd in African history.
