JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has asked the Hammanskraal community to do something they have not done in 30 years and reject the African National Congress (ANC).

On Wednesday, the party hosted its May Day rally at Temba Stadium in Pretoria north.

The area is battling several issues including unsafe water flowing from taps, high crime levels and unemployment.

The Temba water treatment plant is not too far from the Temba Stadium where the EFF is hosting its May Day rally.

For many years, the water from the plant supplied to Hammanskraal has been unsafe for human consumption.

EFF regional chairperson Obakeng Ramabodu noted that this was one of many examples of government inefficiency.

“We are hoping for many people to come out here in Hammanskraal and reject the ANC. They have been given a lot of chances for the past 30 years. We are confident the people of Hammanskraal will respond to the call of economic emancipation which we are calling for as the EFF.”

Ramabodu says young people make up a majority of unemployed people in Hammanskraal.
