Lamborghini’s Vision Gran Turismo Becomes a LEGO Speed Champions Set

A Gran Turismo-exclusive vehicle has been revealed as the star of its own LEGO Speed Champions set among the new releases for summer 2024, with the Lamborghini Lambo V12 Vision GT becoming available in brick form.

First revealed in 2019, at the Gran Turismo World Finals in Monaco, the Lamborghini is a wild concept racer based largely on Sian FKP37 mechanicals. It’s designed by Mitja Borkert and made its game debut with the launch of Gran Turismo 7.

Since then it’s also been made into a 1:18 scale model from Maisto, and now joins the ranks of the small-scale LEGO Speed Champions range. Notably it’s the second LEGO model to be derived from a Vision GT car, following the McLaren Solus.

However the McLaren was an actual production car, while the Lamborghini is a full-size model only. As far as we can tell, it is therefore the first entirely fictional car to become a LEGO Speed Champions set. It’s also the first time that the Gran Turismo logo has appeared on an official LEGO set, and its box.

The Lambo V12 will be available from June 2024 as a standalone, 230-piece set, priced at $/€26.99. Two other sets also revealed today are two-in-one kits, with the Mercedes-AMG G63 and SL63 as one set and the Aston Martin AMR23 F1 and Vantage F1 Safety Car as the other.

A handful of new LEGO Technics models have also been revealed, and there’s actually a bit of a Gran Turismo connection there too — although nowhere near as overtly.

That comes in the shape of the NASA Apollo Lunar Roving Vehicle which is a 1,913-piece set replicating the LRV from the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. The vehicle is almost identical to the machine used a year earlier during Apollo 15, which features in Gran Turismo 6 along with three special lunar missions.

Naturally the pricing is a little more steep, with the LRV coming in at $/€219.99. However, if you already own the legendary LEGO Ideas Saturn V kit and the LEGO Creator Apollo 11 Lunar Lander set, it’s pretty much a must-have.
