Derby day delight for Arsenal!

Arsenal and Manchester City won crucial away games on Sunday after watching on as Liverpool all but ended their Premier League title aspirations with a draw in London on Saturday.

The Gunners survived a late Spurs onslaught to hang on to all three points on North London derby day at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

A Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg own goal early on put the visitors in front before Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz made it 3-0 before the break.

Cristian Romero pulled one back for Spurs just after the hour mark; and with a buzz in the air and the home crowd behind them, the hosts had their sights set on a comeback.

Son Heung Min made it 3-2 from the penalty spot with three minutes of normal time to play; but Mikel Arteta’s side ensured there would be no equaliser as they held on for the win.

Manchester City’s trip to relegation threatened Nottingham Forest brought a 2-0 win as Erling Haaland returned to the side with a bang, coming on off the bench with a goal in the second half to add to Josko Gvardiol’s opener.

Kevin de Bruyne created both goals, meaning that no Premier League player has more assists in all competitions than him. The statistic stands true despite the Belgium playing in just 21 of City’s 54 games this season.

Liverpool’s 2-2 draw away at West Ham on Saturday now leaves the Reds in third — five points off Arsenal and four behind City, who still have a game in hand.

With three games left of Jurgen Klopp’s farewell tour, it is likely that his side are out of the title race, barring any late miracles.
