Scheduled to make its debut in the 11th season of Formula E, the Gen3 Evo was designed by Formula E in collaboration with the FIA. The new model is equipped with a range of “innovative” features, Formula E says. The upgrades include a “more robust” and aerodynamic body kit; all-wheel drive, a first for a Formula E car and available only during qualifying, race stars and during Attack Mode; and uprated, all-weather, grippier (up by 5-10%) Hankook iON tyres, which is manufactured from 35% recycled and materials.

However, the most significant enhancement comes in the shape of its upgraded electric motors. According to Formula E, the Gen3 EVO is not only 36% quicker (from 0-100 km/h) than the current Gen3 race car, but also 30% faster in a straight line than the current Formula 1 cars. With a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 1.86 seconds, the Gen3 Evo accelerates nearly a full second faster than its predecessor, the Gen3. The Gen3 EVO has a top speed of 322 km/h, making it the fastest Formula E car to date.
In addition, Formula E says it’s also the most efficient model it has ever produced, with the Gen3 EVO’s electric motor boasting “over” 90% efficiency. The car also offers 600 kW of regenerative-braking capacity.
